They once again boast a talented team capable of a deep postseason run, and that journey began on Saturday with their first exhibition matchup against Ohio.
The matchup would showcase the Wildcats talent and depth, with fans getting look at Brooklyn DeLeye, Kassie O'Brien, Molly Tuozzo, and the returning stars, as well as newcomers like Morgan Gaerte, who are expected to be major contributors this season. Kentucky would sweep the match 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-20). They also agreed to play an extra set, which Kentucky also won.
Every Wildcat got in on the action, and the younger players on the team gained valuable experience. There are no available stats for the game, but the university posted some pictures from the match on their website.
Kentucky's next exhibition match is on Aug. 12, and they'll face Dayton. Once again, admission will be free, and fans are encouraged to go support them. After that, they'll open the season in a big way, facing off against the Wisconsin Badgers on Aug. 21. That will be a road game, and will be available to watch on ESPN.
