England cyclist Matthew Robertson broke the Commonwealth Games record for a second time to earn gold in the men's C1-C3 3,000m individual pursuit.
Robertson had already taken the Games record in the morning qualification session, only for Scotland's Fin Graham to break it and set up an intriguing gold-medal match.
In the afternoon racing, Robertson beat his time and set a new record time of three minutes and 22.597 seconds.
Graham went out hard to try and rival it but his energy sapped and Robertson claimed the gold medal.
"It was not something I expected but I'm really happy with the run and the ride I did," Robertson told BBC Sport.
"A medal in this event, which is my focus, was the goal and I knew that was possible.
"I didn't expect to go into the final and then when I was into the final I know I am one of those rider that goes quicker in the second ride and I could put the pressure on."
England team-mate Kadeena Cox had to settle for silver in the women's C4-C5 1,000m time trial.
Australia's Tara Neyland bettered her own world record time by a full second to claim gold in one minute 09:667 seconds.
However, it is a first Commonwealth medal for Cox, who has missed two Games because of injuries.
"I'm really proud of myself to go out there and execute what was only my second kilo, and it was so close," Cox said.
"We've got the World Championship in three months time so I'll go do what I didn't do today and then it's onto LA. LA is going to be a really big one for me, I'll probably retire there.
"I'm just hoping to go back and do the job. Be the Kadeena that I started off as."
