UPDATE: Per Popper, Slater left the medical tent, went through some pass sets, then watched the rest of practice on the sideline holding his helmet.
In his place, both Trey Pipkins and Branson Taylor received reps at left tackles with the first team.

In the realm of “something nobody in the Chargers fan base wants to read”, we have to unfortunately report that left tackle Rashawn Slater was seen entering a medical tent alongside a trainer following the team’s first 11-on-11 period, per The Athletic’s Daniel Popper.

Tuesday is the Chargers’ first day of training camp with pads on, although it just half-shell (shoulder pads only and shorts) and not fully-padded. With half-shells, the speed and intensity is increased from just helmets, but they’re still only going about 80-85 percent and staying up off the ground. Injuries can still take place and the hope here is that Slater just aggravated something slightly and not an entirely new injury or complete reaggravation.
