Tacoma’s magical run has reached Little League’s grandest stage.
SoundView Little League (WA) overpowered West Valley Little League (ID) in the Northwest Region Tournament championship on Thursday night, 8-5, advancing to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Left-hander Francis McCabe racked up a tournament-high 10 strikeouts and reliever Kasen Workman recorded the final four outs on ESPN’s nationally-televised broadcast in San Bernardino, California.
SoundView posted a four-run first inning and never looked back, stacking four straight singles to start Thursday’s championship.
First baseman Paxton Hansen delivered a go-ahead, two-run single in the first inning, finishing 1-for-2 with a walk and two RBI.
Shortstop Rhonan Loomis went 3-for-3 with a run and RBI. Workman and outfielder Quinn Herchold added two hits apiece.
The Little League World Series begins Aug. 19, televised on ESPN and ABC.
