The former 1998 NFL Draft selection spent over 11 years at the top level, most notably with Green Bay. However, the 49-year-old is going public with a troubling health update as NFL teams return to the field.
Green reveals some devastating news regarding his health after a recent podcast appearance on “ Go Long with Tyler Dunne .” The Packers great states that he is now suffering from Parkinson’s disease, which causes the brain to slowly produce less dopamine.
Mayo Clinic studies report that less than 20 percent of all Parkinson’s cases occur in people under age 50. However, Green’s sad health news appears to be affecting him greatly, similarly to another Packers legend, Brett Favre.

Green is now getting very public about his diagnosis after becoming an all-time Packers great during his many successful seasons in Green Bay. He holds the Packers record for rushing yards and is a member of the team’s Hall of Fame.
“I had a little bit of the feet twitching when I’m in my sleep and stuff like that,” Green said. “I mean, I knew something was going on long before that … I just got a hold of some doctors [and] was able to get in contact with and get the diagnostics, get the testing and finally got it tested.”

Meanwhile, Green’s status is very similar to his former teammate, Favre. The former NFL quarterback revealed in January 2024 that he’s battling his own case of Parkinson’s.
Favre even testified in front of a congressional hearing that same year, discussing the difficulties of battling the disease . Green hopes that more NFL players will be comfortable with talking about their own health ailments.
“It needs to be upfront,” Green said regarding other players revealing similar diagnoses. “It needs to be a topic that’s always hit.”
Green finished his NFL career with over 9,000 rushing yards and 74 total touchdowns during his time with the Packers, Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks.
