The Philadelphia Phillies are expected to be buyers at this year's trade deadline.
"I think we need some help," Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper said after Tuesday's 1-0 loss to the Miami Marlins .
Philadelphia's offense has struggled over the past few weeks. The Phillies rank 22nd in the Majors with a .703 OPS.
Even if president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski wants major changes to the roster following Monday's deadline, the Phillies are unlikely trade partners with the Los Angeles Angels .
On Thursday, The Athletic's Jim Bowden wrote that a potential Mike Trout trade to the Phillies is out of the question.
"A few weeks ago, all we kept hearing was how Mike Trout was going to be traded to the Phillies," Bowden wrote.
"Well, we can stop the rumors; it’s not happening. He doesn’t want to be traded; he has a full no-trade clause, Angels owner Arte Moreno doesn’t want to trade him, and the Angels interim GM John Mozeliak says he’s not going to trade him," Bowden added.
Plain and simple. Trout, who grew up a Phillies fan in Millville, New Jersey, is staying with the Angels.

The franchise that drafted him is the one he clearly plans to spend the rest of his Hall of Fame career with.
Sure, Trout to the Phillies would be a lot of fun. But all the rumors and trade ideas can be put to rest.
Minnesota Twins All-Star Byron Buxton also appears to be staying right where he is. Buxton has a no-trade clause in his contract, despite his obvious fit as a right-handed hitting outfielder with the Phillies.
