Rolando "Rolly" Romero is putting his WBA welterweight title on the line this weekend against the former unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez Jr. Rolly picked up the vacant belt in May of last year with a unanimous decision victory against Ryan Garcia, while Teofimo is looking to regain his footing after a defeat against Shakur Stevenson in January.
Unlike many boxing matchups, Rolly and Lopez were previously friends who now must face off as the two best in their weight class. "He's always been a good friend of mine at one point in time as well," said Lopez in an interview with DAZN News, "but now we're coming to the point where I think we gotta face each other and get this done."
