Sequoyah volleyball is seeking baked goods and treat donations for its annual bake sale during the Sequoyah Classic Tournament, scheduled for Friday, Aug. 14, and Saturday, Aug. 15.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly toward the program's goal of purchasing a portable net system for the Lady Eagles.
The program is asking community members to donate homemade or store-bought treats, including cookies, brownies, cakes, breads and other baked goods. Individually wrapped items are especially encouraged because they are ideal for single-serving sales during the tournament.
Organizers prefer donations be dropped off by Thursday, Aug. 13, though baked goods will also be accepted on the morning of Friday, Aug. 14, before tournament play begins.
Those interested in contributing are asked to comment on the team's social media post or send the program a direct message to coordinate their donation.
In addition to raising money for new equipment, the bake sale gives the Lady Eagles an opportunity to welcome teams and fans from across the region while showcasing what the program calls "Eagle hospitality."
With dozens of players, coaches and spectators expected to attend the two-day tournament, Sequoyah hopes community support will help make the fundraiser and the tournament a success.
