See the full story · 4 sourcesDue to the number of injuries on the 91-player roster , the Green Bay Packers had to dial back the competitive periods during Wednesday's opening training camp practice. Coach Matt LaFleur's team was without 10 players to open camp.
On the positive side, guard Aaron Banks and defensive tackle Nazir Stackhouse came off the PUP list and were able to participate during the team's first practice of 2026. And the Packers had offensive tackle Zach Tom and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt back on the practice field after the pair suffered season-ending injuries late last season.
Here are the 10 players who didn't practice for the Packers on Wednesday, and the updates from Matt LaFleur and Brian Gutekunst :
Edge rusher Micah Parsons (PUP list): He is still recovering from ACL reconstruction surgery, and the Packers don't believe he'll be able to participate at all during training camp. But Brian Gutekunst called him a "genetic freak" and wouldn't completely rule out Parsons making it back before Week 1. He is right on schedule, but expect the Packers to be extra cautious here.
TE Tucker Kraft (PUP list): He's not participating to start camp, but his return to the field appears imminent. Kraft is approaching the nine-month mark of his ACL injury. Both the team and the player believe he'll be off the PUP list and beginning a ramp up period soon.
CB Keisean Nixon: The Packers starting corner has a hamstring injury to start training camp. Does he also have a contract issue? Nixon is going into the final year of his deal and is scheduled to make only $4.3 million in base salary. Keep an eye on this one. The Packers went through a contractual song and dance with Elgton Jenkins last summer.
DL Javon Hargrave (PUP list): The veteran newcomer has a knee injury, but coach Matt LaFleur said he did not believe the injury was a long-term issue.
TE Luke Musgrave (PUP list): Brian Gutekunst revealed Musgrave has a neck injury of undetermined severity. The team is taking the evaluation slowly given the precarious nature of neck injuries. It's possible this could be a long-term issue.
RB Chris Brooks (non-football injury list): The backup running back has a hamstring injury. Given he is on the NFI list, it can be assumed Brooks suffered the injury while training away from the facility before the start of training camp.
LS Matt Orzech (PUP list): The team's long snapper has a calf injury, and while the Packers believe his absence will be short term, it's possible the team will make an addition so the specialists can work to start training camp. Sean Rhyan was the backup snapper on Wednesday.
CB Kamal Hadden (PUP): The young corner is still recovering from surgery to repair a significant ankle injury suffered in December of last year. His timeline for returning is unknown.
DL Jordon Riley (PUP): The nose tackle is still recovering after tearing his Achilles tendon in December of last year. His timeline for returning is unknown.
OT Brant Banks (PUP list): The second-year offensive tackle has a hamstring injury to start training camp.
