The Razorbacks are set to kickoff a new era under Ryan Silverfield, and this will be the program's first legitimate quarterback battle since the 2019 preseason. Nick Starkel eventually beat out Ben Hicks, but the position ended up resembling a revolving door as the Hogs went 2-10 that fall.
Silverfield doesn't want this competition lasting into the spring. On the eve of preseason camp, the first-year head coach said he doesn't want to use the Week 1 game against North Alabama as an extension of the battle.
Ideally, one of Jackson or Hill cements himself over the next few weeks, and the Lions serve as a tune-up game for the winner. A grueling slate awaits with a road trip to No. 21 Utah in Week 2.
Throughout fall camp, the Southwest Times Record will provide live updates on the quarterback competition below. We will link to other, more detailed practice reports, as well as providing our assessment of the position. The Razorbacks have 14 practices open to the media over the next two weeks.
