Former Madison-Ridgeland Academy boys basketball star Josh Hubbard will have his tenure at MRA solidified.
MRA announced on Aug. 12 that the program will retire Hubbard's No. 12 jersey. Hubbard will be the first player from MRA to have their number retired for basketball.
The ceremony will be during halftime of the MRA vs. Hartfield Academy football game on Sept. 4.
Hubbard excelled at MRA under longtime coach Richard Duease and was a four-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He broke the Mississippi High School boys basketball scoring record with 4,367 points, was a two-time Clarion Ledger Dandy Dozen selection and the 2022-23 Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year.
The Madison, Mississippi native has now become a star in the college basketball scene at Mississippi State and announced on April 17 that he is returning for his fourth season with the team.
Hubbard has led Mississippi State in scoring for three consecutive seasons and is 195 points away from breaking the program's all-time scoring record. He's a three-time All-SEC selection and broke the Mississippi State basketball record for 3-pointers in a game with 10 made.
