McKeown has been in a supporting role for Kelly during the first few days of competition but let loose on the rinks for the first time, his impressive play helped put Northern Ireland on the road to victory.
Time and time again the end was set up for Kelly by McKeown as he out-bowled Nathan and despite the valiant attempts of 17 year-old Hill to rescue a losing position, Kelly came up with some big shots when they were required the most.
Th duo’s next game is against Pakistan on Thursday morning but with New Zealand and Australia in the same group, they know tougher games are to follow.
