After the Cleveland Browns ' latest practice, Jerry Jeudy responded to questions about his team and how he was falsely portrayed on social media regarding the ongoing quarterback battle.
"I've been in the league maybe seven years, and at least five or six of those years, there's always been a quarterback competition within those years. I think I'm mature enough and wise enough to not answer questions like that. For everyone to believe that I would answer something like that on social media is kinda wild," Jeudy told reporters on Wednesday, in a clip shared by Browns beatwriter Mary Kay Cabot .
"You gotta understand that this is what we're in, and understand how everybody is viewing the quarterback competition in this room. So every little thing is gonna try to turn it into that," he suggested.
While Jeudy said he understands that's how things go with people believing whatever they want to, he knows what's "real" and "what the truth is" in the situation.

According to ESPN , the issue arose from a TikTok video on July 26. In the video, someone made it appear they asked Jeudy who he preferred in the quarterback battle between Shedeur Sanders and DeShaun Watson. The edited video then cut to Jeudy holding up four fingers, which was taken to mean he preferred No. 4, Watson.
He's continued to shut down the false narrative, but also says people will believe what they want in a time when fake social media posts continue to share misinformation 24/7 in attempts to go viral.
Jeudy previously addressed the social media video on X, sharing messages on July 26 that included "Lmao yall just be lying so much for what ??"
"I don’t speak on decisions that aren’t mine to make. I support my teammates/Brothers, I do my job, and control what I can control. Let’s stop creating narrative that aren’t there for likes and clicks," he wrote in another X message .
Jeudy's remarks arrive as Watson and Sanders are battling for the starting job in the upcoming Browns season, the first under new head coach Todd Monken.
After rookie QB Dillon Gabriel was sidelined, Sanders took over as starter for eight games to close out the Browns' campaign in 2025-26. Watson was unable to play last season as he was recovering from the torn right Achilles tendon he suffered in October 2024 and reinjured in January 2025.
Sanders indicated in a sit-down conversation with Browns legend Bernie Kosar that they didn't have " petty quarterback squabbles " going on behind the scenes and were all looking to do their best.
While Sanders showed glimpses of future potential, last season the Browns may choose the QB with more experience leading them next season, which is the final one of Watson's five-year $230 million contract with the team.
Cleveland has its first preseason game on Aug. 15 when they face the Chicago Bears on the road, so it's going to be interesting which quarterback gets the start there.
