After playing for 11 different NBA teams, Dennis Schroder might be on his way out of the Cleveland Cavaliers . He only joined the Cavaliers midway through the 2025-26 season, but now he might be on his way out already to a 12th NBA team.
It has been the story of Schroder's career, as he is definitely a talented point guard. However, he keeps getting traded because he has favorable contracts, and he is a good enough player who can contribute to any team in the league as a backup point guard.
The Cavaliers are already looking for trades for Dennis Schroder
In the 30 games he played for the Cavaliers, Schroder played at a decent level. He was a reliable point guard in Kenny Atkinson's systems, as he was playing behind James Harden. He also worked well off the ball if Harden or Donovan Mitchell had the ball-handling duties, which shows Schroder's seamless fit to any team.
Unfortunately, his versatility and adaptability have made him an NBA journeyman. He is a decent player, but unfortunately, he has become one of the league's most prolific point guards when it comes to the teams that he has played for.
MORE: The Cavaliers are looking to get Peyton Watson after moving on from the Jonathan Kuminga chase
The Cavaliers are looking to make more waves in the offseason. They want a shot at getting Peyton Watson from the Denver Nuggets , but they still have some financial hurdles to jump over. However, if they manage to find a trade for Schroder, that might be the key.
"The Cavs continue to discuss various trade packages involving Schroder, seeing if there is an opportunity to slightly reconfigure the roster or gain financial flexibility, which would help their pursuit of free agents Jonathan Kuminga and Peyton Watson," Cavaliers reporter Chris Fedor said about the potential trades for Schroder .
It will be an interesting situation to follow because Schroder remains a good player. Trading him will probably make some room in the Cleveland roster, but it will also add to his seemingly never-ending list of NBA teams he has played for.
