Indian batter Jemimah Rodrigues believes the inaugural ICC Women's Champions Trophy will be a special occasion for the team, with India's recent World Cup triumph in 2025 only making the squad more determined to replicate its success on the global stage. India's historic World Cup triumph has given the team a taste of success, and Rodrigues believes that experience has only strengthened their desire to remain at the top. "We've tasted success once, and we know what it feels like to be at the top. The more you taste it, the more you want to be there," Rodrigues said JioStar. The inaugural ICC Women's Champions Trophy is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka from February 14 to 28, 2027. It will mark the first edition of the Champions Trophy in women's international cricket. Rodrigues is particularly excited about being part of the tournament's inaugural edition and believes India's recent success will provide additional motivation. "Our team is working towards that, and yes, the Champions Trophy is going to be very special. It's happening for the first time ever in women's cricket, and I'll be a part of it for the first time as well, so it'll be pretty special, and I'm really looking forward to it," she added. The tournament was initially scheduled for a June-July window but was subsequently moved to early 2027 following an ICC board decision. The women's Champions Trophy will feature six teams competing in the T20I format. The tournament will consist of a round-robin league stage, with the top two teams progressing to the final. A total of 16 matches will be played across the competition. India face South Africa test before Champions Trophy
Before turning their attention fully towards the Champions Trophy, India will face South Africa in a challenging multi-format tour beginning on December 9, 2026. The series will see the two recent World Cup finalists renew their rivalry across formats, with India scheduled to play a one-off Test, three ODIs and three T20Is.
