The festival, which welcomes more than 200,000 fans to Somerset, south west England each June, remains one of the world’s defining stages for music’s biggest names. In 2025, headliners The 1975 , Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts and Olivia Rodrigo performed on a bill that spanned pop (Charli xcx, Lorde), indie (Wet Leg, Wolf Alice), hip-hop (Doechii, Loyle Carner), electronic (Four Tet, Maribou State) and beyond, showcasing the extraordinary breadth of sounds and stars that make Glastonbury unlike any other festival on the planet.
Glastonbury’s periodic fallow years – the last one took place in 2018, prior to enforced breaks in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic – allow the dairy farm on which the festival sits a chance to recover from the footprint of its enormous scale, while also giving organizers a rare window to recharge.
But the downtime also fuels many Glastonbury obsessives’ favorite pastime: speculation over who will take to the Pyramid Stage when the festival returns. The two-year gap between editions this time around has made it more intriguing than most; in the time since the festival last swung open its gates, a host of stars’ careers have accelerated or bounced back into the cultural conversation, meaning the pool of plausible headliners has grown considerably.
