The Atlanta Dream hosted the league-leading Minnesota Lynx on Sunday. Angel Reese and her team won 89-81. Allisha Gray led the Dream with 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Olivia Miles led the Lynx with 21 points.
One big moment from the game was the altercation between Reese and Courtney Williams. During the second quarter with just under six minutes remaining, Williams tried to snatch the ball from Reese. The contact led to a small scuffle, after which the referee blew the whistle.
Napheesa Collier and the referee stepped in to prevent the situation from escalating. But that couldn’t stop Reese from firing off some heated words at the Lynx star. Fans gave their verdict on the exchange.
“She called her bald??” one fan wondered .
The referee called a foul and assessed it as a jump ball.
Angel Reese breaks impressive WNBA record
Angel Reese scored 15 points and had 11 rebounds in 33 minutes. The Dream star made history and now holds the record for most double-doubles in a single season with 29.
She surpassed Alyssa Thomas, who set the record in 2023 with 28 double-doubles. This adds to an impressive set of double-double records.
Reese also holds the record for most consecutive double-doubles (15) during her 2024 rookie season. She also established a rookie record by averaging 13.1 rebounds per game.
She also surpassed Tina Charles (45) for most double-doubles in the first two seasons.
