He has won two scoring titles, been named an All-Star seven times, been named to an All-NBA Team five times, and took home the MVP award in 2023. He has career averages of 27.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists as he has been dominant for Philadelphia.
With that being said, injuries have derailed so much of his career. If it weren't for the multitude of injuries, Embiid would have likely led the Sixers to the finals by now, and possibly even a championship. He is that dominant on the floor and he makes such a difference whenever he is on the court for Philadelphia.
HoopsHype ranked the top 80 players in the history of the NBA and Embiid comes in ranked No. 77 on the list:
On a per-minute basis, few players in NBA history produce as much statistically as Joel Embiid. When ready to go, he's one of the most unstoppable big men ever thanks to his massive frame, mobility and deep bag.
The problem with him is that he doesn't play that many minutes considering he misses a lot of time due to health reasons regularly. Plus his track record in the playoffs is spotty as well.
If he manages to stay in shape and healthy, he could move up in this ranking. We’re not holding our breath at this points, though.
It's completely fair to wonder if Embiid can stay healthy at this stage of his career. He has dealt with so much and has had to battle and work his tail off to be available for Philadelphia on a regular basis. While he hasn't played in 40 games in any of the previous three seasons, the big fella is hoping to change that fact in the 2026-27 season and help the Sixers finally get over the hump.
