They cannot afford to let him leave for free in 2027, which is why they have be forced to sell now in order to avoid making a major loss in 12 months’ time.
It remains to be seen how the situation with Vinicius plays out. There will be more clarity when he returns to Real Madrid later this week to begin his preparations for the 2026-27 season, and the club will hope that he plays that campaign in their colours.
