Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a breakthrough and now Bradley Barcola to Liverpool could follow.
Liverpool are working on a deal for Bradley Barcola right now. The winger has become their no.1 target after failing with Yan Diomande, though it's not exactly a cheap one.
The Athletic report that Paris Saint-Germain want around €180m for Barcola. It would be the third most-expensive transfer of all time, which does feel quite insane given he's not actually a first-choice player over there.
Still, PSG believe Barcola should carry significantly more value than someone like Morgan Rogers, who moved for £117m this summer. It's difficult to argue against that, really, even if there reality here is that both are overvalued.
Liverpool, then, want to pull that transfer fee down and their best chance of doing that is for PSG to need Barcola even less. In other words, the Reds will be hoping that the Parisians sign new forwards.

Fabrizio Romano has given some major hope for Liverpool in that regard. He's confirmed that PSG have had a breakthrough with AS Monao over Maghnes Akliouche.
The French winger would likely take Barcola's place in the squad and certainly lessens any dependency on the Liverpool target. It's exactly the kind of news the Reds need, in fact, and they'll be praying that PSG get this over the line ASAP.
Because Liverpool certainly don't want the Barcola talks to drag on all summer. The squad is in desperate need of a new winger but failing to sign Barcola with little time remaining will significantly weaken any bargaining position.
That desperation will turn to poison, in other words, as teams will know Liverpool have little choice but to pay up. Hopefully, then, this Akliouche breakthrough is exactly what's required to get things moving fast.
