The boys and girls golf season began at the end of July, so the Marion Star's player of the year polls for the sport are overdue. Now is the time to catch up and vote for your favorite golfers.
The polls run concurrently through the early morning of Aug. 24 at MarionStar.com and its app, and fans may participate as often as allowed.
Here are the nominees for the early season awards for 2026:
Marion Star Boys Golfer of 2026
Hunter Ebner, Highland, senior, three letters, 93 in sectional in 2025.
Rylan Fiant, Cardington-Lincoln, junior, two letters, second-team Knox Morrow Athletic Conference, 94 at sectional in 2025.
Asher Gates, River Valley, sophomore, Mid Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2025, 37.8 average for nine holes, 77.4 average for 18 holes, 75 in sectional.
Ethan Monroe, North Union, senior, 40.5 for a nine-hole average in 2025, second-team Central Buckeye Conference Mad River Division, district qualifier, 85 at district.
Matt Murphy, Pleasant, senior, 45.7 average for nine holes in 2025, 88 in sectional, captain..
Jacob Walker, Elgin, senior, 18-hole average of 91 in 2025, 98 in sectional.

Kylee Crist, Elgin, senior, 18-hole average of 98 in 2025, 135 in sectional.
Emery Gorenflo, Pleasant, junior, first-team MOAC in 2025, 97 in sectional, only Marion-area district qualifier, 107 in district.
Addison Hart, Highland, sophomore, honorable mention MOAC in 2025, 108 in sectional.
Maddie McKenzie, Ridgedale, senior, averaged 54.2 for nine holes in 2025, 138 in sectional.
Saleen Miller, Northmor, senior, 50 average for 9-holes in 2025, 111 at sectional.
