Ethan Ampadu: We want to put our stamp on more games
Leeds United will begin their Premier League campaign with a trip to Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon, as both teams look to start the new season on a high.
Pre-season preparations are now over and the 3pm kick-off in the East Midlands will see the Whites take on a Forest side who have recently appointed Oliver Glasner as their head coach, after he departed fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace.
Speaking ahead of the trip to the City Ground, gave his thoughts to Premier League Productions.
“We want to put our stamp on more games, put our personality on more games,” the skipper began, looking ahead to the new season and discussing the ambitions.
“I think it's a combination of making sure that it is survival because everyone wants to be playing in the Premier League, but then have the confidence in ourselves that we can go further as well.
“We know it's going to be a very tough game,” the Welshman added, when asked directly about facing Forest.
“They've got a lot of very good players with a new manager and a new system maybe to some of their players, but they're going to be well prepared for it.
“So we have to be as well, and we want to get off to the best start possible. It's going to be a good game, but on that, we have to go with confidence and play as ourselves.”
Off the pitch, Ampadu was quick to secure his future with the club over the summer, by signing a new long-term contract at Elland Road.
On that new deal, he said: “I've loved my time here, I've been very open and honest about that.
“I never shy away from telling people how much I've loved it here, how much I enjoy it here. The direction it feels like the club wants to go in and they're willing to push to go in, fits into what I want to do.
“The club want to get back to where it was and I want to be part of that. So it felt like quite an easy decision to want to extend.”
