Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman is alive and well after his terrifying collision in the visiting dugout on Wednesday, August 12th, against the Kansas City Royals.
During the top of the eighth inning, Freeman was tracking down a pop-up but lost his footing and crashed to the ground with nothing to break his fall.

When a player is tracking down a pop-up near either dugout, it is always scary, no matter how aware or ready a player may be.
Freeman, after being swarmed by players and Royals personnel, eventually got up somehow and stayed in the game.

In the second half of the inning, he exited when he was due to bat, with Tommy Edman pinch-hitting instead of Freeman.
After that, there was no proof of life regarding Freeman or an update, but the fact that he got up and finished the defensive frame was enough to suffice in the meantime.
A while after the game, manager Dave Roberts spoke to the media and naturally got swarmed with questions over Freeman’s status.
“He’s sore. Hand, knee, foot, shoulder a little bit. But I think that we really dodged a bullet. He’s in good spirits, which I think is a good sign. Just kind of total body soreness right now, so it’ll be day-to-day,” Roberts said.
“He was going to be down on Friday, and I’ll just kind of get with him tomorrow and see how he is tomorrow.”

Freddie Freeman speaks
In a surprising turn of events, Freeman actually did end up speaking to reporters. He did not need a scan to see any damage and, luckily, he somehow did not hit his head.
“I didn’t hit my head, so that was the key part there. I am sore, kneecaps are sore, shoulder sore, hand sore, wrist sore. I mean, I fell,” the first baseman said.
“I’m in good spirits, I’ve already cold tubbed, done everything I need to do to put myself in a position to be able to hopefully play tomorrow… We’ll just see how I feel tomorrow when I wake up.”

With no serious structural injuries and especially the lack of a head injury, the Dodgers seemingly got the best-case scenario, all things considered.
Knowing how tough Freeman is and how eager he is to play, odds are he plays on Thursday, especially with the National League’s best, the Milwaukee Brewers, rolling into town.
