Buffalo Bills superstar Josh Allen is arguably the best quarterback in the league right now, and he does it with both his throwing arm and making plays with his legs.
Allen’s ability at 6-foot-5 and 237 pounds to occasionally bulldoze defenders is one of a kind. Pro Football Talk recently highlighted how he’s nearing 5,000 career yards rushing, but the potential record for Allen that PFT’s Michael David Smith found is even more head-turning.
Allen could “become just the fourth player ever with at least six rushing touchdowns in nine consecutive seasons,” Smith wrote. Only former running back greats Jim Brown, LaDanian Tomlinson and Marshall Faulk are on that list.
That means Allen is poised to join a group that surpasses most of the all-time great running backs. Actually, Allen is putting up rushing touchdown numbers that dwarf many high-caliber running backs.
Allen had 14 rushing touchdowns last season alone, and he made it three consecutive years of 12 or more. Before that, he had scored at least six rushing touchdowns in every year of his career.
His 79 career rushing touchdowns put him at 23rd all-time, ahead of many past big-name running backs such as Ricky Watters, Tony Dorsett, Earl Campbell and Ezekiel Elliott.
Only one quarterback is close to Allen on that list — former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. A one-time MVP, Newton rushed for 75 touchdowns in his career between 2011 and 2021.
Allen could have ways to go before he calls it a career. The 30-year-old has been durable throughout his career, with only one season where he didn’t play at least 16 games.
Expect Allen to become the fourth quarterback ever to hit the 5,000-yard mark at some point in 2026 and for him to join the rushing touchdown record books. Enjoy the ride along the way because a running quarterback of Allen’s stature truly hasn’t been seen before and may not be again.
