Texas A&M fans have plenty to track this preseason, as a record‑tying 10 Aggies were selected in the 2026 NFL Draft. With so many rookies entering the league, we’re already getting an early look at how they’re acclimating to the next level.
A handful of former Aggies took the field in the Hall of Fame game to open the preseason, and on Thursday, Cashius Howell added his own highlight. Five minutes into the second quarter, Howell set the edge on a run play when one of his teammates punched the ball loose. Howell reacted instantly, diving into the pile and coming up with the fumble.
Once officials sorted through the scrum, it was Howell who emerged with the football, giving his offense possession in the red zone and a chance to go up by two scores. They capitalized immediately, finding the end zone on the second play of the drive.
Howell didn’t record any additional stats, but the play showcased what he’s known for. A natural nose for the football and the ability to make timely, momentum‑shifting contributions.
