The Pirates have recalled right-handed pitcher Antwone Kelly from Triple-A Indianapolis and optioned left-hander Hunter Barco ahead of Friday’s game against the Reds in Cincinnati.
This will be Kelly’s third stint with the Pirates this season. In two appearances out of the bullpen with Pittsburgh, the 22-year-old has allowed five runs on six hits with two walks and a strikeout in 4.1 innings.
Kelly has made 19 appearances/13 starts with Indianapolis this season and is 5-5 with a 4.29 ERA. In 77.2 innings, he’s allowed 37 earned runs on 73 hits with 36 walks and 56 strikeouts in 77.2 innings.
Barco pitched three innings against the Reds on Thursday night and allowed a pair of runs on five hits with three walks and a pair of strikeouts. In six appearances for the Pirates this season, the 25-year-old is 0-1 with a 7.36 ERA.
Barco has made 13 appearances/six starts for Indianapolis this season and is 3-6 with a 4.87 ERA. He’s allowed 25 earned runs on 48 hits with 24 walks and 50 strikeouts in 46 innings.
