The Mount Union men's basketball team has landed one of the area's top 3-point shooters
Hoover High School guard Connor Newell announced his commitment to play for the Purple Raiders on social media on Aug. 13. He will be entering his senior season with the Vikings.

Newell hit 55 3s and shot almost 39% from behind the arc during his junior season with the Vikings. He earned second team honors on the All-Federal League and All-Stark County teams.
Newell's 3-pointer at the buzzer lifted Hoover to a 74-71 win over Massillon on Dec. 23. It was the only loss of the season for the Tigers, who won the OHSAA Division II state championship.
