While it’s still too early to tell whether $2.5 billion is achievable, the arrival of premium theaters including IMAX is helping boost sales to sustain momentum, and these good weekly holds and big weekday numbers bode well for sustained attendance. So for now, I think Titanic and Ne Zha 2 are safe in their respective spots on the all-time charts, but it won’t take much for Spidey to beat moderate estimates and threaten for a top-5 finish.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has only a few challengers for the title of highest-grossing 2026 film, and I suspect Avengers: Doomsday will ride the wave of good will and presence of Spider-Man himself to something at least matching if not topping Brand New Day . But nothing else looks likely to fall into that same all-time top tier, so I expect the MCU to finally rule the year’s box office charts again .
