See the full story · 1 sourcesIt was another year of victories , milestones and excitement for Gardner-area sports. We saw teams accomplish winning seasons, athletes cement their name in the record books and moments that remind us why high school sports are so special.
Now as we look back at the year, it's time to honor those that helped make these moments happen.

The nominees
Jason Donovan, Narragansett baseball
Donovan led Narragansett baseball to one of its best seasons in recent years. They finished the season 10-7 and qualified for the Div. 4 playoffs as the No. 42 seed.
Kyle Duplease, Murdock football
The first-year coach made a big impact on the Murdock football program in his debut season. Duplease helped the Blue Devils earn their first win in two seasons, a 14-12 victory in Week 2. Murdock went on to win five more games, competing strong against area opponents. It was a huge turning point for the program and showed the potential and growth the athletes have made.
Meghan Lehouiller, Gardner field hockey
Lehouiller was another first-year coach in the area, taking over the Gardner field hockey team. A knowledgeable former college field hockey player herself, Lehouiller was able to make a mark on the Wildcats' program and led them to their first playoff qualification since 2021. They finished with a record of 7-7-3, a vast improvement from previous years, such as their 2-10-1 record of 2023.

Tina Seabury, Oakmont girls basketball
Seabury continued to make improvements on the Oakmont girls basketball team in her second season at the helm. After leading her team to an undefeated regular season last winter, she returned this year to help the Spartans win the Mid-Wach title as well as claim the Clark Tournament large school championship as the top-seeded team.
Tony Sylvester, Gardner girls basketball and baseball
Sylvester has proven his expertise as a coach in several sports seasons this past year. Sylvester took over the girls basketball program in the winter and led the team to a league championship and another appearance in the state tournament. Then in the spring, he continued growth with the baseball team, leading them to their first playoff win since 2013.
