On Thursday, Kentucky basketball announced the completion of their regular season schedule with Wichita State being added as their 32nd game. On Friday, they followed that up by adding Texas Tech to the slate as an exhibition matchup.
Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio announced the news that the Red Raiders would be added to the Wildcats' schedule. This is after it was reported that Kentucky would play two Big 12 teams in the preseason.
A date for the game hasn't been given yet, and the other Big 12 opponent isn't known yet either. Once those announcements are made, we will report them.
Kentucky and Texas Tech have faced off five times previously, with the most recent one coming in 2020. That one was an overtime thriller which the Wildcats won 76-74 in overtime. Overall, Kentucky is 5-0 in the series.
The two Big 12 games will make a total of three exhibition games for the Wildcats this year. They're also set to take on Little Rock on Oct. 16.
