The Tennessee Titans selected the first wide receiver in the 2026 NFL Draft, picking up Carnell Tate with their No. 4 overall pick.
As a highly-drafted offensive weapon, Tate is expected to make an immediate impact as a go-to WR option for quarterback Cam Ward.
Tate was asked about these expectations for his debut campaign at training camp practice earlier this week.
"I just go out there and play football," Tate said, via the team's official website. "If you don't have expectations, you aren't doing something right. I just go out there and play football and have fun."
Tate joins a Tennessee wide receiver room featuring veterans like Calvin Ridley and Wan'Dale Robinson, as well as young guys like Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor.
"I try to pick Ridley's brain as much as possible," Tate added. "I am just soaking it in, trying to get better here and there and just preparing myself for the season and ultimately learning and getting ready."
Tate, a former collegiate superstar for the Ohio State Buckeyes, is doing all he can to prepare for his debut season at the NFL level.
"For me it has been non-stop, from the end of the season to the combine to the draft to the visits to the OTAs to camp," Tate said. "It has been non-stop football, which I love, I'm not complaining at all. I get to go out there and play football."
The Titans will begin their regular-season schedule with a Week 1 matchup against the New York Jets on Sept. 13.
