Will Stein and company added a couple of running backs last week, but the recruiting to add some depth for this upcoming season has not ended just yet. This time, it will be a quarterback added to this quarterback room for year one of the Will Stein era
Will Drakeford Jr. broke the news earlier on Monday that he is committed to Kentucky Football and will join the team for the 2026 season. Drakeford will add more depth to the quarterback room, backing up Kenny Minchey.
Drakeford is 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds out of Maryland, by way of Quince Orchard High School, where he recently led the team to an undefeated season, capped by a 4A state championship. As for individual accomplishments, Drakeford was First-Team All-State in Maryland and racked up 1,795 passing yards and 27 touchdowns vs. two interceptions, with 10 more touchdowns on the ground.
Quarterback-wise, Kentucky’s room was a little empty early on in the Will Stein era, but that is certainly not the case now. Drakeford becomes the seventh quarterback on this roster, adding to a room with the veteran Minchey and an incoming Matt Ponatoski.
