The New York Mets season has gone as poorly as anyone could have imagined. Entering the year with high expectations, they have fallen way short and are all but mathematically eliminated from postseason contention.
The Mets are currently without their best player in outfielder Juan Soto, who is dealing with a grade 2 left calf strain and it remains unclear if he will make his way back this season. He has started to participate in light baseball activities.

When healthy, the 27-year-old five-time All-Star was as dominant as ever, posting a .283 batting average, .408 on-base percentage, .947 OPS, 21 home runs and 52 RBIs across 293 at-bats.
Given where the Mets were, the club had no choice but to sell off any pieces of value at this year’s trade deadline. One of the most disappointing but necessary moves was sending right-hander Freddy Peralta to the Tampa Bay Rays, less than a year after New York sent two top prospects to the Milwaukee Brewers to acquire him.
Peralta posted a slideshow on Instagram in his new threads this past week, and Soto was quick to leave a message for his former teammate in support. “Activooo 🔥🔥,” he wrote.
The word is a Spanish slang phrase that essentially means ready to go or locked in, a way of expressing that someone is fired up and ready to perform.
While Peralta’s tenure in Queens was extremely underwhelming, as he posted a 4.99 ERA across 22 starts, he clearly left an impact on his teammates, including Soto. Sometimes the connections made in a clubhouse matter more than what happens on the field, and Soto’s message made that clear.
