Milwaukee is acquiring right-handed reliever Antonio Senzatela from the Colorado Rockies , according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic initially reported that the two teams were working toward a deal. The return heading to Colorado was not immediately reported.
Senzatela becomes another notable addition for a Brewers team determined to build a deeper staff for the stretch run. Milwaukee also reportedly acquired right-hander Dustin May and left-handed reliever JoJo Romero from the St. Louis Cardinals . Although Senzatela spent most of his career as a starting pitcher, he has enjoyed an encouraging transition to the bullpen in 2026. The 31-year-old owns a 3.61 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 46 strikeouts across 52 1/3 innings.

Senzatela made 145 starts over his first eight major league seasons, but Colorado moved him into a full-time relief role in 2026. The change appears to have helped him become a more effective pitcher.

His results become even more impressive when accounting for his home environment. Senzatela posted a 4.81 ERA across 24 1/3 innings at hitter-friendly Coors Field, meaning he was significantly more effective on the road. He has also been excellent in limited action against American League opponents, allowing only one earned run across 15 1/3 innings. Senzatela recorded 14 strikeouts and issued just one walk during those appearances.
Brewers saw Senzatela up close before making trade
Milwaukee did not need to rely entirely on scouting reports when evaluating the veteran right-hander. Senzatela faced the Brewers at American Family Field on July 24 and delivered a scoreless inning. He allowed one hit, did not issue a walk and recorded one strikeout in Colorado’s 5-2 victory.
He followed that appearance with two-thirds of a scoreless inning against the Kansas City Royals on July 31. Senzatela does not produce overwhelming strikeout numbers, but his ability to limit walks and cover multiple innings could make him valuable for manager Pat Murphy. His extensive starting experience also gives the Brewers another pitcher capable of providing length when necessary.

Milwaukee continues building a deeper pitching staff
The Brewers are adding Senzatela after already making significant additions to both their rotation and bullpen. May gives Milwaukee another experienced starting option, while Romero supplies a proven left-handed weapon. Senzatela adds a durable right-hander capable of handling several different roles.
There is some risk attached to his extensive injury history. Senzatela previously underwent Tommy John surgery and pitched only 15 2/3 major league innings between 2023 and 2024. His performance this season, however, suggests he has successfully rebuilt his career as a reliever.
Senzatela might not be the biggest name moved before the deadline, but his versatility, control and ability to record more than three outs could make him another valuable addition to a Brewers pitching staff being constructed for October.
