Nonetheless, after an extremely sticky start to his tenure, McInnes' Rangers are looking for a third consecutive win and if they can successfully negotiate this tie, that should breed further confidence before a tricky-looking game at Aberdeen on Sunday.
Already five points off the pace in the Premiership, Rangers can ill-afford any further slip-ups in the league, but first they have to take care of business in Europe before turning their attentions back to domestic issues.
