Tomorrow evening we will get our first look at the “new look” Miami Dolphins when they face off against the Washington Commanders in their first of three preseason games. With that in mind I asked the following question last evening:
What will you be looking for from our Miami Dolphins this coming Friday evening when they take on the Washington Commanders in their first preseason contest? What will you be looking for from specific individual players, the Dolphins’ offensive and defensive units, and the team/coaching staff as a whole?
Below are some of your thougths and answers-
THEphinz says just don’t get anyone hurt!
The only thing im looking is the team to stay healthy. Generic, vanilla preseason games mean nothing
heatforlife has some concerns about the OL it seems.
ill be focused on our sorry ass g from last year moves over to rg that smells bad to me.worse guard play for a yearin history of this once proud org.sad whats happened here since steve took over. It seems like yesterday when cosell was saying the the miami dolphins winningest org in the nfl in shulas days
ezdz73 can hopefully report back as to how we looked in live action.
I’ll be at the preseason game. Honestly, I’ll be trying to learn all the new players on the team and their numbers. lol.
heatforlife also wants to see us with a competent QB.
a qb that can make a play when theres nothing there.a qb that can run.a qb that can throw an out and not take forever for the ball to get there.a qb that can play all 17 games.been a while since we had one of those.
JUK was more concerned with yesterday’s joint practice than what we will see tomorrow night.
Honestly I’m more interested in how the practices go than the game itself. I want to hear how some of our starters do against real NFL opponents. Last year it wasn’t the preseason results that were the sign things weren’t right, it was getting punked by Det and Chi in joint practices
Gllmiaspr will be looking for Willis’ chemistry with the WR’s, how the OL handles the Commanders’ decent DL, and how our secondary holds up.
The sure thing is that whatever I see on Friday it will be irrelevant and forgotten by the end of the first quarter of the first real game against the Raiders. But to answer the question I would hope to see some chemistry between Willis and the receivers and see how the OL holds against what appears to be a decent pass rush. Also interested in the pass coverage.
PantherPaw wants to see the OL play with an agressive stule and how the backup RB’s and LB’s look.
Looking for a no quit attitude in the run game…cut the OLine loose to be as aggressive as possible and force the run. Show the players that anything less than outright aggression will not cut it.
Achane is fine for a drive or so. Let’s see Gordon and Wright get a big load of running to see who can be the true backup to Achane .
Focus on turning the linebackers loose…all of them and see who shakes out as the top 4.
NeenerWhacker wants to see a HC who can coach competently, Willis drive the filed with the offense and the defense stand up to the run game.
3 things for me:
Game management – last coach was abysmal. What is Hafleys skillset here? Seems like a smart guy – hell be calling defensive plays so maybe a bit easier to manage the clock on offense.
If Malik takes the first drive, I’d like to see him lead the team down the field for at least 3
Can the defense stop the run? In theory we have the players to have a decent run defense.
Ejplaya doesnt care about anything if the OL cant get their S together.
The only thing that matters and to focus on is that miserable offensive line performance. If they do what we did today, nothing else matters.
krammm is another more concerned with what happened yesterday than what will happen tomorrow.
I’m looking for what happened at the scrimmage.
Pod of Dolphins is still upset about a loss from back in the day.
I still remember SB XVll and the @#$% change the name to _ I just can’t say it
Dolfanjoe points to the fact that many will not be able to see the game live. For those of you with the NFL Network, the game will be replayed at 2 AM Saturday morning.
Friday ? So many of us will not see the preseason game. Not living in the areas showing it . Will have to get reports in the news sources in the morning. Hoping no new injury reports ! First pre season game is an organized scrimmage. Very vanilla. Hopefully some writers can make what did happen sound exciting. Looking at the NFL channel to see when they will show it. In the mean time, all we have is what highlights they will show.
FLexile wants revenge for a win!?!
PAYBACK!!!! Stomp those losers into the dirt for seizing defeat from the jaws of victory last year. Had they beat the Dolphins in whatever 2nd class country they played in last year, the Dolphins most certainly would have fired McDaniel before the flight home. Instead we had to suffer through ummm Capri pants
Well those are our comments for this evening. If you missed the post last evening and have some things that you will be looking for from our Dolphins tomorrow evening please share your thoughts in the comments section below. Please remember to join us for the live game thread tomorrow evening and as always thank you to each of you who took the time to join in on our Phinsider Question Of The Day.
