NFL games are firmly back underway following the Hall of Fame clash on Thursday evening between Arizona Cardinals and the Carolina Panthers.
It was the Panthers who came out on top in Canton in a game that went right down to the wire.
However, one of the biggest talking points of the night was not what happened on the field, but NBC Sports’ decision to address the offseason controversy involving Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini.
The New England Patriots head coach has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons this year after being pictured with the NFL insider outside of football duties.
Russini has since left her role at The Athletic, with famous faces like Aaron Rodgers criticizing the likes of ESPN for not speaking out on the drama.
NBC Sports, will avoid Rodgers’ wrath as they spoke out during their coverage of Thursday’s Hall of Fame game.

What NBC Sports said about the Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini drama during HOF game
Despite the unrest it brought to the Patriots, Vrabel has kept his role as head coach this offseason as they look to go one better after losing in the Super Bowl to the Seattle Seahawks.
Rodgers’ recent criticism of networks not addressing the controversy may well have played into NBC’s decision to speak on the matter.
“I think the thing you have to wonder is – it’s going to start Week One in Seattle. Like you said, that atmosphere… we were up there last year. They look to Mike Vrabel when things get tough,” said former Patriot Devin McCourty.
“Do they still feel the same way? His character has been tested. Will this team follow him wherever he goes? That’s going to be tested right away, Week One.”
It could not be a harder start for the Patriots in Week One, given they face the team who beat them convincingly in the Super Bowl.
“And I’ll tell you, when games start, winning matters. If they get off to a fast start, they have a chance to quiet some of that noise. If they don’t, that noise could get extremely loud,” added former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin .
Lumen Field is one of the noisiest venues on the schedule, but it would offer Vrabel and the Patriots the perfect opportunity to silence some of their critics in the opening game of the regular season.
