The second North American leg of My Chemical Romance 's Black Parade kicked off this week, with Gerard Way and Co. performing their classic 2006 album in full and a packed setlist of their greatest hits. This U.S. leg wraps with a whopping five nights at the Hollywood Bowl, with the final show fittingly set for Halloween.
Other stops include Washington, D.C., Detroit, Denver, Phoenix, and San Diego. They will also have festival appearances at Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky, and Aftershock in Sacramento, California. Following their North American shows, the band will have a string of shows in East and Southeast Asia.
My Chemical Romance also have an impressive and eclectic roster of supporting acts, including Pierce the Veil, Modest Mouse , Babymetal, Iggy Pop, Sleater-Kinney, and the Breeders. This leg of the tour will take place primarily at baseball stadiums, save for the Nashville and San Antonio stadium dates and the Hollywood Bowl dates.
Naturally, the band dialed up the theatrics for the anniversary of The Black Parade , with a high-concept show centered on a fictional (but maybe not so farfetched) authoritarian state. "The band took everything to the extreme," wrote Rolling Stone of the band's hometown show from last year. "There's a clown who blows himself up, and at one point, Gerard uses his one last gasping breath after being stabbed to launch a nuclear war … It's all an astounding amount of creative output that makes for a stellar show."
Several shows along the tour have sold out or have limited seats available on primary ticket marketplace Ticketmaster . Prices vary for the band's tour by venue, with tickets starting at under $40 for the Phoenix stop, while their final Hollywood Bowl date starts at around $110.
