Sports journalist Emily Austin has added another notable boxing assignment to her growing list of media work by teaming up with Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions at Friday night’s event in Southern California.
The card featured Amanda Serrano defending her WBA and WBO featherweight titles against Lucrecia Manzur. Serrano won the 50th victory of her professional career in a majority decision after the bout went all 12 rounds at Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula.

Austin took part in covering several different aspects of the event, from the weigh ins and face offs before the fights, to coverage during the bouts. She also interviewed boxers following their matches.
This is the first time that Austin has worked with Paul’s promotion. On Instagram before the event she shared the news and also talked about how covering the Serrano-Manzur went for her.
Austin is building up quite the résumé interviewing top fighters and other sports personalities She’s covered boxing through her work with DAZN, and her interview include former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, among others.
This particular MVP event had a special significance. It’s the first championship boxing card fully broadcast through TikTok. MVP said that’s a milestone for both the sport and its digital reach.
Serrano’s victory gave the card an additional historic element. The 37 year old Puerto Rican champion entered the bout with 49 professional victories and 32 knockouts. She needed to take down Manzur to set a new record for knockout wins by a woman in professional boxing. However, she couldn’t do it and Manzur went al the way.
As for Austin, boxing is only one part of her sports media career. She’s bee expanding her soccer coverage and doing other major sports assignments. She’s actually doing an upcoming reality series called No Days Of that will follow her work across sports and entertainment.
