San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York isn't out of the woods just yet following his arrest Sunday morning in Ohio.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told reporters at the NFL pre-season owners' meeting that the league is reviewing the incident to see if it violated the NFL's personal conduct policy per the AP's Josh Dubow.
"Yes, it's being reviewed under the personal conduct policy," Goodell said via Dubow. "We'll do that and when there's something to be reported we'll talk."
York was charged with two misdemeanors for disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools after responding to an undercover ad on a " known prostitution website " according to the Athletic. The 49ers owner received a two-day jail sentence and a $1,150 fine.
Mark Maske from Front Office Sports reported York did not attend the league meeting , which isn't a huge surprise given that the incident is less than a week old.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan downplayed the impact of York's arrest on his team.
“I don't need much of a message to the guys," Shanahan said. "I think that's kind of irrelevant to our guys.”
Shanahan also noted that York's absence from the team, however long it may last, won't be a dramatic change from what had become the norm during training camp.
"I mean, it's been like that this summer anyways with him being out in Ohio and things like that," Shanahan said. "So, it would be no difference right now. He hasn't been here for training camp.”
It's hard to believe much changes if the league levies some kind of significant punishment. Any penalty for York for violating the league's personal conduct policy would likely come via fine or suspension. Until a ruling has come down from the league, though, we can expect York's absence from the public eye to continue.
