The San Francisco 49ers are facing yet another injury crisis at wide receiver, with Ricky Pearsall dealing with what the team considered to be concerning knee swelling . Free agent acquisition Christian Kirk has also been sidelined due to a calf injury , although that doesn’t seem to be as big of a deal. It’s still no surprise that the 49ers have brought in a trio of wide receivers for tryouts, including a familiar name to Seattle Seahawks fans…
Yes, Dee Eskridge remains a free agent with training camp underway for all 32 NFL teams. The Seahawks’ top draft choice (in the second round) of the 2021 NFL Draft was most recently with the Miami Dolphins after he was waived by Seattle in 2024. Through 19 games in Miami, Eskridge caught seven passes for 106 yards and returned 33 kicks for 872 yards.
We know Eskridge’s Seahawks story well enough to not deeply rehash what transpired. Injuries (including a scary concussion in the 2021 season opener) affected Eskridge’s availability, and when he did play he was mostly a non-factor.
On the plus side, Eskridge’s two biggest highlights both came against the 49ers. His only NFL touchdown came in Seattle’s 30-23 win against San Francisco in 2021.

He also had his career-long kick return of 66 yards in an otherwise disastrous Thanksgiving night in 2023.

If Eskridge does sign with the 49ers, that means two of the three Seahawks picks from the 2021 draft will have eventually found themselves in San Francisco. Tre Brown was briefly a Niner last year before he was released off of injured reserve.
Stone Forsythe, the other 2021 draft pick, is currently with the Seahawks-laden Carolina Panthers.
