William Osula has a huge season ahead of him.
After injury issues and struggling for form, a late run of starts towards the end of last season saw the young striker given the chance to get into a groove and he started to look the part.
Five goals in his final seven Premier League matches of the 2025/26 season suggested a real quality player could be emerging.
Nine goals in total in domestic competitions last season despite starting only 11 matches, real hope for the future.
That late season club form helped William Osula get his first senior start for Denmark.
The Danish striker turned 23 earlier this month and now he has the platform to make more huge strides this season.
However, he will be doing it without the manager who brought him to Newcastle United .
Jason Tindall had done some coaching at Sheffield United back in the day, before he and Eddie Howe came to St James’ Park in November 2021. On Tindall’s recommendation of the raw talent he’d seen when William Osula was very young in the Blades set-up, Eddie Howe agreed to buy the inexperienced striker for £10m (plus a potential £5m in future add-ons) in summer 2024.
Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall have now moved on and William Osula has now been interviewed by BBC Newcastle : “There are some things that you don’t expect but I spoke to them and wished them all the best for the future. I showed my gratitude for all they’ve done for me and how they have helped me so far.”
Matthias Jaissle is the new man and William Osula says that the NUFC squad are “all excited” about taking on the upcoming season under Eddie Howe’s replacement.
The Denmark international commenting: “We have got a new manager and I’m looking forward to working with and playing well under him. A new manager bringing in a new style that he likes to play, so everyone is getting ready for the season to start next week.”
It has been a hectic summer and a significant transformation on and off the pitch.
William Osula adding: “We have already learned his playing styles in and out of possession and how he likes to play tactically. It has been good. I want to continue to show what I can do, remain confident. I know what I can do on the pitch so it’s just keeping doing that.”
