5-star PG Reese Alston names final 7 schools
Five-star point guard Reese Alston has narrowed his list of offers to seven schools, he told Rivals. Moving forward, the 6-foot-3 rising senior out of Second Baptist (TX) will consider Houston , Kentucky , LSU , Louisville , Tennessee , Vanderbilt , and Wichita State .
To this point, he has completed unofficial visits to Wichita State, Louisville, and Kentucky. He says he’s currently in the process of scheduling official visits.
Alston is ranked as the No. 8 overall recruit in the 2027 class and the No. 3 ranked point guard, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking , an average of all three major recruiting media companies (Rivals, ESPN, 247Sports).
He is the son of former NBA player Rafer Alston , a.k.a. “Skip to My Lou.”
In addition to his finalists, he also received offers from Texas Tech, Texas A&M, SMU, TCU, Illinois, Texas, Florida State, Washington, Maryland, USC, Kansas, Virginia, Villanova, Ole Miss, and others.

In a previous interview with Rivals, Reese Alston discussed a few of the schools pursuing him.
HOUSTON : “We definitely have a great relationship. I’ve been talking with them since I was a sophomore in high school. We are very close. I had an in-home with them, so we definitely have a great relationship. Coach (Kelvin) Sampson likes my offense. He says that he’s got me on defense, but he loves point guards who play as I do. He says that he will put the ball in my hands on day one.”
LOUISVILLE : “Things are pretty good with them. We stay in touch. They’re contacting me, staying in touch all the time to let me know they really want me. Coach (Pat) Kelsey is great. It’s definitely great, you know, that he went in the lottery, and it’s good to see him in a position that I could see myself in. But me and Mikel (Brown) are very different. I’m still trying to get where he is. I feel like if I went there, Coach Kelsey would do a good job of fitting the team around how I play, and now how Mikel played.
LSU : “We definitely have a great relationship, one that we have built over the last few weeks. I would say that we have been in contact over the last three weeks. Coach (Will) Wade is a great coach and can put guys into the NBA. He could fit his team and the system well with how I play.”

Rivals’ National Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw has evaluated Reese Alston multiple times in person. Here is what he had to say about him after watching him on the Puma Pro16 Circuit in July:
There really was no question of who would be placed in this spot (MVP of the event). Not only was Reese Alston dominant in this setting, but his movements and the way he was splitting double teams and consistently playing in the paint were unique among his peers nationally. Reese finished his weekend going for 20, 28, and 30 points. Where he made his living was in the teeth of the defense. He put consistent pressure on the paint, and when there, he processed quickly to keep his team at an advantage.
He used great pace to constantly gain leverage on his defender, once he got the advantage, Alston kept the defender on his hip and made read after read to gain the advantage. Alston needs to continue adding strength, he did struggle at times to finish at the rim, but he was a constant two-way threat at the point of attack and found ways to put his team in advantages.
During Alston’s junior season at Second Baptist, he averaged 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.7 steals per game, earning MaxPreps junior All-American First Team.
