Rodri has been on Real Madrid’s radar for several weeks now, but talks have taken a step back after Los Blancos accelerated the signing of Yan Diomande.
The RB Leipzig star’s signing is now all but finalised, and Real Madrid are turning the focus back onto Rodri once more.
As reported by MARCA now, the men in white have already begun the process to sign the Spaniard and will present an offer to Manchester City immediately after Diomande’s signing is completed.
A non-negotiable for Mourinho
The Spanish outlet add they Jose Mourinho sees the signing of a midfielder this summer as a non-negotiable, and he sees Rodri as the best option on that front. They remain optimistic about completing the transfer .

Florentino Perez was said to be the big hurdle against Rodri’s arrival, but the club president has now given the green light. All that remains is for Real Madrid to present an official offer and complete the deal.
The player ticks all the boxes demanded by Jose Mourinho. He is a leader, versatile, can control proceedings in midfield and provides a creative outlet.
Manchester City are open to a transfer
While it seems difficult to believe that Manchester City are willing to sell Rodri immediately after his Golden Ball-winning World Cup campaign, the Blues understand that the player is in the final year of his contract.

They are, thus, open to a transfer provided it arrives at the right fee. As matters stand, they value him at between €50 million and €60 million.
Perez and Real Madrid want Rodri to be the brain of the team next season, and talks will accelerate in the coming days. Negotiations are not expected to be a big problem, especially with Rodri also having his heart set on a move to Spain.
Last season, Rodri made 21 Premier League appearances in which he had one goal to show. He averaged 1.2 key passes per game and completed 90% of his passes.
The Spaniard was the heart and soul of his national team’s midfield at the recent World Cup and is one of the best in the business.
