Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski made franchise history during his 20th start of the 2026 season on Sunday against the Colorado Rockies.
Misiorowski struck out the first seven batters he faced, which is the most by a pitcher in Brewers' franchise history.
The right-hander recorded a total of 12 strikeouts throughout five innings on Sunday. This is the second-most strikeouts Misiorowski has logged in a start this season. He struck out a career-high 15 batters during his complete-game one-hit shutout against the Philadelphia Phillies on June 12.
The 24-year-old is in the second MLB season of his career after making his MLB debut with the Brewers in June last season. Misiorowski is now a two-time National League All-Star in two seasons and leads the NL in strikeouts (186), ERA (1.58) and WHIP (0.75) this season.
He joined the Brewers' organization in 2022 when the franchise drafted him with the No. 63 overall pick in the second round of the draft.
In the latest Cy Young Award poll, 33 MLB.com experts voted for which pitchers they believe would win the award this season. Misiorowski is the clear favorite, earning 30 first-place votes and 161 total vote points for the NL winner.
Phillies southpaw Cristopher Sánchez finished in second in the poll with 113 total vote points and 1 first-place vote. Phillies right-hander Zack Wheeler earned the other first-place vote in the poll.
There are still a few months remaining in the season. But at this point, Misiorowski has made a strong case to win the award for the first time in his career.
