Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars are preparing for the upcoming season, and the star quarterback says they won't let the outside noise get in the way of the team's expectations.
The team won the AFC South last year with a 13-4 record and reached the postseason for the first time since 2022. With that comes expectations for more success in the coming season.
"You know, I think that means you're doing something right if there is some level of expectations around your team. You know, that means you've done something in the past that's gotten you into a position to where people expect you to be good," Lawrence told CBS Sports' Evan Washburn .
"I think for our team, it doesn't really matter. You can't listen to any of it. We have internal expectations for ourself because we have a high standard that we want to play to," he said. "I think we know what we need to do to get better, and we have that high standard for ourself and those expectations, not the ones on the outside."

According to Lawrence, "People are gonna say whatever they want to say," and the Jaguars or the city "won't ever get the respect."
"It's not about that, it's about the people in this building, our fanbase. That's who we do it for. You can't listen to the outside too much," he said.
After playing only 10 games in 2024, the Jaguars had a healthy Lawrence last season. He played in all 17 games and threw for 4,007 yards, ranking sixth in the NFL. He ranked fifth in touchdowns thrown with 29 and was 14th with his 58.3 QBR.
Lawrence also racked up career highs on the ground, with 359 rushing yards and nine rushing touchdowns.
While the Jaguars reached the postseason, their run was halted early by Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card Round. It was also a close game, with the Bills winning 27-24 behind Allen's performance.
Lawrence played well, throwing three touchdowns but also had two interceptions. That loss could be driving Lawrence and his team's expectations to advance further in the coming season.
The Jaguars will continue practicing throughout the month at the Miller Electric Center in Jacksonville. Their first preseason game arrives on Saturday, Aug. 15 when they visit the New Orleans Saints.
Jacksonville's first regular-season game is on Sunday, Sept. 13, as they look to get off to a winning start against the Cleveland Browns.
