After two successful seasons under Hansi Flick, Barcelona are gearing up for arguably their toughest season, with the team yet to find a replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
There have been a few departures elsewhere as well, with both Ferran Torres and Ronald Araujo likely to leave the club in the coming days.
As a result, Flick is having to once again rely on youth players to fill up the bench, and that is where Brian Farinas comes into the fray.

According to Diario S P ORT , Barcelona have decided to keep hold of Farinas, with the youngster set to be part of Flick’s first-team plans for the upcoming season.
Barring any unexpected twist before the window closes, both the club and the coaching staff are clear in their thinking, and the young midfielder will remain at the club rather than head out on loan.
Both Flick and the sporting department led by Deco have been thoroughly impressed by the performances and qualities Farinas has shown throughout pre-season.
Flick’s belief in the player is nothing new. The German previously blocked Farinas’ departure to Girona, a move that had been all but agreed for €1.5 million in exchange for 50% of his economic rights.
The coach preferred to keep him close and assess him first-hand, and everything he has seen since has only reinforced that decision.

Farinas’ continuity also fits neatly within the wider restructuring of Barcelona’s midfield.
With the expected departures of Marc Casado and Tommy Marques, added to the long-term absence of Frenkie de Jong through injury, Flick feels Farinas can provide valuable depth and tactical options in the middle of the park across the campaign.
Two weeks ago, Deco met with the player’s entourage to convey the board and coaching staff’s satisfaction, and the good feelings have only been strengthened on the pitch since
Barcelona have now formally communicated the roadmap to both Farinas and his representatives: the intention is for him to stay and compete at the highest level.
This is despite interest from Girona , who were waiting on the final decision on Farinas’ future.
