The first time Taylor Swift’s dad met Andy Reid was in Philadelphia when Big Red was the head coach for the Eagles. Her connection to the Philly area, and some of her song lyrics, have created a link to the Birds over the years.
Regardless, given her relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, her fandom now lies firmly with Kansas City. And based on a recent account by Dean Blandino, NFL rules analyst for FOX Sports, she’s not a fan of the play that helped her Dad’s former team beat her now-husband in the Super Bowl.
Blandino was recounting being invited to Taylor and Travis’ wedding by Swift herself, after the two hit it off at the Eagles-Chiefs game earlier in the season. He explained that he was complaining about the Eagles using the tush push, and Swift later agreed with his account, and said that the tush push sucks.

She certainly wouldn’t be the first person to feel this way — particularly among fans of teams the Eagles have beaten by utilizing the play. For his part, Travis Kelce has not publicly complained about the tush push, and never supported banning the play. The Eagles don’t play the Chiefs this season, unless we get (another) rematch in the Super Bowl, so whether she likes the tush push or not, she won’t be subjected to it much — unless the Bills continue to call the play more often despite their safety concerns about it.
And while Swift may not be a big fan of the Eagles (anymore?), she did invest in their stadium, Lincoln Financial Field. During a recent tour of the stadium, one fan recounted that their guide explained that Swift wanted the windows on the press box to open so fans could hear better for her Eras Tour stop in Philly. It must’ve been something she was passionate about because she ended up funding the renovation herself, and now the reporters on game day can thank the World’s most famous pop star for the fresh air.
C.J. Gardner-Johnson might’ve been trying to goad Swift and the Swifties after Super Bowl LIX, but I respect a woman who is 10-toes down for her team and kind of hates any perceived rival — or their most successful play. And I can appreciate her bossing up to make an improvement to the Linc for the people of Philadelphia.
