See the full story · 1 sourcesTennessee Titans training camp is underway, and the acclimation period has come to an end with the final mandatory unpadded practice on Saturday. Now, the real battles can begin, and the competition for those who sit on the roster bubble can fully take shape.
Because the first three practice sessions were without pads, it's difficult to get a complete picture of how the competition will shake out, but some players who likely sit on that roster bubble did show up and flash.
Offense
At wide receiver, both Bryce Oliver and KJ Osborn made some plays early on as Calvin Ridley was recovering from a stomach bug. These two are likely competing for one of the final spots, and it will be an intriguing battle to watch throughout camp. Also at wide receiver, Elic Ayomanor has put on a show, and the battle with Ridley to start could get interesting.
Besides Oliver and Osborn, running back Kalel Mullings and tight end Jaren Kanak have both made plays through the early days in camp and are working their way into contention for the final spots at their positions.
But all was not positive for the offense. Along the offensive line, it was a bit harder to decipher. The interior battles at center and right guard are ongoing, and no one solidified their role. While the group did appear to improve through the sessions, there was a glaring issue in practice: swing tackle. Both Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson and Austin Deculus struggled during their reps, and if a jump isn’t seen when the pads go on, general manager Mike Borgonzi may decide to look for some veteran help.
Quarterback Will Levis has been uneven and has done little to unseat Mitch Trubisky as Cam Ward’s backup.
Defense
The defensive line has looked strong and should be the strength of the defense, and they also had some players step up who could be on the roster bubble. Edge Jaylen Harrell built on the strong finish in 2025 and has made some plays early in camp, and defensive tackle Cam Horsley has opened some eyes heading into his second season.
The linebacking corps competition is heating up, and rookie Anthony Hill Jr. is making strides every day. While his roster spot is safe, offseason addition Mohamoud Diabate is making a case for himself. It will be interesting to see how many linebackers the Titans decide to keep; that could help shape this position.
In the secondary, Tennessee has seen some good work, and some young players are making plays. Cornerback Micah Robinson and safety Bishop Fitzgerald have made some plays.
Special teams
While the specialists are set, punter Tommy Thompson has caught the eye of some onlookers and could be an upgrade from 2025.
This is where the bubble players will likely make a name for themselves. During the early portions of camp, it is hard to see anyone break out; players like Olive, Osborn, Kanak, Harrell, Diabate, Robinson, and Fitzgerald will have to show up once pads go on, in joint practices, and in preseason games to help solidify their early positional surge.
