Alec Pierce is coming off the first 1,000-yard season of his career and should have real momentum heading into 2026. Instead, offseason ankle surgery has left him stuck on the sideline with no clear timeline. The receiver room around him also shifted this summer in ways that do not help his cause. Fantasy managers are being asked to bet on a player nobody can evaluate right now.
Should I Draft Alec Pierce in Fantasy Football?
This is an impossible player to assess. The season is right around the corner, but it is not here just yet, and both Pierce’s ranking and his ADP will swing wildly based on when or if he returns to practice.
The holdup is the ankle. Pierce had a surprise offseason surgery that is still causing him problems, and he has been set to return to practice “in a week or two” for roughly six weeks now. At this point, we will believe it when we see it.

That is the primary obstacle to endorsing him. I am not one to ever predict injury, but this is a different situation entirely. This is a player who is already hurt. For someone who makes his living on splash plays, being compromised physically is not a good sign.
The profile itself is also a concern. Pierce has averaged 21.3 and 22.3 yards per reception in each of the past two seasons. That is spectacular when it works. It is also a dangerous thing to bet on, because it requires everything to break right.
His 2025 season is a fascinating study in contradictions. Pierce reached 1,000 yards on remarkably limited volume. His 18% target share ranked 49th in the league, and he was targeted on just 18.3% of his routes run, which ranked 68th. Yet his 2.18 yards per route run ranked 17th, which is genuinely impressive production per opportunity.
The counterweight is his 0.089 first downs per route run, good for 33rd. Of course, that is easy enough to explain away. Pierce is not a chain mover. When a receiver is ripping off enormous chunks while catching only 47 passes, there is no path to a high first-down rate.
But as well as Pierce played, I have a very hard time getting on board with this archetype. Splash plays are wonderful because they deliver points in bunches. The reality is that we do not want receivers who mostly run downfield routes. We want the layup targets because those represent guaranteed production week to week.
The surrounding situation cuts both ways. The positive news on Daniel Jones’ health certainly helps. The drumbeat surrounding Josh Downs, the addition of Keenan Allen, and a likely second-year ascent from Tyler Warren all point the other direction. That is a lot of mouths competing for a target share Pierce was already not commanding.

Pierce averaged 12.2 fantasy points per game last season, and I have a hard time seeing how he improves on that number given everything above.
Pierce is my WR53 and falling, against a WR37 ADP that is also falling. If his price keeps sliding, I will eventually be willing to take the swing. Right now, there are far too many questions and not enough answers. Someone else can take the risk.
